Nightmare on Elm Street, A
The movie that brought us a character that even today remains a part of pop culture. Freddy Krueger a scarred, disfigured child murderer starts to prey on a group of teenagers in their dreams in this very effective slasher. Released in 1984 at a time where 'slasher' movies were coming out of the woodwork. Wes Craven manages to create one of the most effective and brilliantly disturbing horror movies of all time. This movie remains in my top 10 of all time. Sheer genius! Also, a glove with knives attached to the fingers!? A fantastic and brutally sadistic idea.

MUST SEE!
"This is God." - Fred Krueger
Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge, A
Not a bad sequel but oddly enough not the best of the bunch. In a way I don't think it should have been called 'Freddy's Revenge' seeing as Freddy isnt directly going after anyone from the first movie. Anyone with me?.....Anyway, not enough action from Freddy in this movie for my liking. Too much of some butt-ugly guy possessed by Freddy running around.
However bad point aside 'Revenge' still scared unlike later sequels and kept to Wes Craven's original formula as much as it could cope. A solid entry.

WORTH A LOOK
Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, A
Most Nightmare fans favourite sequel. I would say definetely one of the better sequels along with 'Freddy's Revenge' and 'New Nightmare'. This movie has a cool premise and introduced us to a group of kids in hospital troubled by their dreams. Many fans are turned on by the gang who team up to fight Freddy (better known as the Dream Warriors). However this didnt work so much for me because I found them all irritating. I can see where this resinates from though as you do feel for the characters abd you don't realy want them to die.
The movie overall is a lot of fun and brings back John Saxon and Heather Lagenkamp from the original. I also enjoyed that the movie introduces Freddy's mother and delves into the maniacs background .
Unusual for a 'part 3' but a decent sequel!

Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, A
Here's where Freddy starts to become a little bit of a joke. Too many one-liners and our sadistic killer becomes a stand-up entertainer. The cast return from part 3 and are disposed of relatively quickly. Nevertheless I believe the attraction of the Nightmare movies is that you dont have to be a hardened fan to enjoy the sequels. Worth a look but a weak film.

WORTH A LOOK
Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, A
Freddy degenerates some more and becomes a comical buffon. Unfortunately this leaves the movie lacking scares or tension and focuses on ridiculously comical and over the top deaths. If you're looking for comedy then this is right up your alley. On a personal note I do enjoy the movies. I wouldnt call myself a proper Nightmare fanboy but this is definetely one of my least favourite. Still if it doesnt shock me, the least it can do is have me rolling on the floor. "Bon appetité...bitch!"

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (Nightmare 6)
COMING SOON!
New Nightmare
In 1984 Wes Craven created 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'. It was acclaimed as one of the scariest movies ever made and made unknowns like Robert Englund, Johnny Depp, and Heather Langenkamp huge stars. Ten years later Wes Craven is writing a new Elm Street movie and asks happily married mother of one Heather Langenkamp to return and star in the movie. Heather turns down the role however lately she is recieving strange phone calls and witnessing unusual events. To her horror her husband dies mysteriously and Heather soon realises that Freddy Krueger is real and is trying to manifest himself in the real world!
Craven you genius! Only Wes could turn this series around and make a truely great sequel to end all sequels. Freddy becomes scary again! Imaginative, inventive, creepy and oozing atmosphere. Also brilliant to see Robert Englund play himself and a cool cameo by Craven.
